small business is the usa backbone

April 4, 2010

I am second generation small business owner. I was raised watching my folks work all hours of the day and night to keep the business afloat so others could have a place to work. Now my siblings and I run the business and see how hard it is to survive. Our salon is in northern va and is one of the premier salons in the area and still it is tough to survive in a unstable economy. the business www.fivestarhair.com has been open for 30 years. Is there any other family business owners out there trying to build a second generation business?

small business ownership

March 30, 2010

My mom and dad started a business 30 years ago. It is a nice salon in northen virginia. They build it from 1 stylist in 1980 to 25+  stylist and staff today and one off the most popular salon in norhern va.  They retied and sold the business to thier children (my sister, brother and I) we love running the business…. but it is not easy! Uncle sam does not make it east to be a small business owner. I have a positive outlook on our economy and think hard honest work will pay off in heart if not the bottom line. if you get a chance check out our salon www.fivestarhair.com if your ever in town come visit and i will show you around
